Ravneet Singh Bittu today said that the Punjab government is committed for the overall development of Ludhiana city and that is why, a comprehensive plan has been prepared for by the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana. He said that MC would carry out development works of more than Rs 600 crore in next six months time for the development of Ludhiana city.While inaugurating the start of repair of internal roads of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar area on Pakhowal Road, here, Mr Bittu said that an amount of around Rs 2.12 crore would be spent on the repair of these roads. He said that the Punjab government is making efforts to carry out overall development of our state. He assured that the MC Ludhiana has already gathered finances for the development of city and that is why, more than Rs 600 crore would be spent in next 6 months time.While speaking to media persons, Mr Bittu said that the matter related to Cabinet Minister Mr Charanjit Singh Channi is now over and the opposition parties are merely doing petty politics over this non issue. He said that their opposition parties should also desist from politicising the tragic accident that took place in Amritsar few days ago. On a question related to the Akali Dal sharna regarding the syllabus in school textbooks, he said that Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal and his party has no moral right to hold such dharnas.

Cabinet Minister Mr Bharat Bhushan Ashu said that the previous SAD-BJP government totally ignored the development of our city as well as of the state, due to which our city presented a sorry picture. He said that no person paid any attention towards the repair of internal roads of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar area in last 12 years time. He said that the area residents had to wait a really long time before they could finally see the roads being repaired and recarpeted. He informed that these roads are being repaired/recarpeted by the Ludhiana Improvement Trust and his staff if keeping a close tab on the quality parameters.In reply to a question related to his department, Mr Ashu said that he would not tolerate any kind of corruption in Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs department of Punjab. He also stated that there is no shortage of funds for development purposes with the state government. He said that the work of installing new streetlights and repair of existing ones would also start soon.Prominent among those present on the occasion included area councillor Rupinder Kaur Sandhu, councillor Dilraj Singh, Ishwarjot Singh Cheema, Harjinder Singh Dhindsa, Naresh Dhigan, Inderjit Singh Indi, besides several others.
