Adhere to model code of conduct: DC asks political parties

Deputy Commissioner, Rohit Khajuria today urged representatives of political parties to adhere to Model Code of Conduct (MCC) guidelines, while listening to their concerns related to Urban Local Body polls here at a meeting.During a meeting with the party representatives, the DC informed that the Model Code of Conduct has come into force and asked the candidates and political parties to follow its guidelines. No violation of MCC will be allowed at any stage of election process, he affirmed and further stated that no party or candidate shall indulge in any activity which may violate the model code of conduct, adding that Parties should refrain from invoking caste and community while asking for votes.The DC asked the representatives to aware the people about elections procedure and EVM machines which are going to be used for the first time in ULB polls. He said awareness is must for mobilizing people in huge number to cast their vote. He also stressed on managing the expenditure within the prescribed limits during election campaign and following the guidelines of Election commission.

He assured them that foolproof security arrangements for the candidates and voters will be put in place to ensure smooth elections while exercise is on to identify sensitive and hyper sensitive polling stations.Later, DC also held a meeting with Nodal officers for smooth conduct of ULB polls.During the meeting Law and Order, Model code Of Conduct, EVMs Training, Election Material management, Transport Management, Help Desk & Redressal of complaints, Communication plan management, Media certification & monitoring committee, EVMs Distribution & collection management and Ballot paper printing were discussed threadbare.He directed all the Nodal Officers to perform their duties beforehand so that smooth election process can be ensured. The meeting was attended by GM DIC, RTO , ACR, ACD,  PO IWMP, District Treasury Officer, Deputy District Election Officer besides other concerned officers and representatives of several political parties.
