In order to streamline the traffic system in the city besides making in clean, green and pollution free, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma today asked the officers/ officials of district administration to expedite the process of setting up four CNG pumps in the city.The directions were passed on by the Deputy Commissioner after a meeting with the General Manager of Indian Oil Corporation Mr. Iqbal Siddiqui, who called on the former at his office today morning.During deliberations with Mr. Siddiqui, the Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration would accord top priority to the clearance of files pertaining to the setting up of these pumps. He said that the necessary clearance would be issued promptly by the concerned agencies, so that the process of setting up these pumps could be initiated. Mr. Sharma said that these CNG pumps would be set up at 120 feet road, Guru Amardass Nagar, Ladowali Road and on National Highway opposite Suchi Pind.
Assuring fulsome support and cooperation to the IOC for ensuring timely implementation of this consumer friendly initiative, the Deputy Commissioner said that that it was economical, safe and convenient fuel for the people. He said that the introduction of this mode of fuel would benefit the people by providing them fuel in smooth and hassle free manner on one hand besides paving way for the introduction of environment friendly mode of public transport that would help in making Jalandhar clean, green and pollution free. Mr. Sharma said that under the Smart City project the district administration would ensure that public transport system was further strengthened through the introduction of low floor Mini Buses and the auto rickshaws, which would ply in the city and would run only on CNG. “This is the need of the hour for saving the environment of the city and facilitating the residents in a big way” he added.
