Punjab AG Office Responds To Capt Amarinder's Call, Donates Rs 31 Lakhs For Kerala Relief

Responding to the appeal of Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh for all-out efforts to help in the Kerala flood relief efforts, the office of Advocate General Atul Nanda has donated Rs. 31 lakh to the Kerala CM’s Relief Fund.A cheque for the amount, on behalf of the AG office law officers, staff etc, was presented to the Captain Amarinder Singh at Punjab Bhawan this afternoon. Captain Amarinder Singh led state government had earlier announced Rs. 10 Crores worth of relief, including financial assistance of Rs. 5 Crores from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund besides dispatching four plane loads of 150 MTs of relief material, for Kerala relief and rehabilitation.

The Chief Minister urged others to follow suit and support the Kerala people who were facing extreme hardship due to unprecedented floods.

The State Government has already deputed IAS officer Basant Garg, along with a small team of officials at Thiruvananthapuram, to coordinate the relief operation with the Kerala State Government, said the spokesperson.The Punjab Government would be mobilizing further relief material as and when requisitioned by the Kerala administration, said the Chief Minister.All Congress MPs and MLAs of the Punjab Congress had also decided to donate their one-month salary to support the Kerala flood relief measures.Acting on the Chief Minister's directive, the Punjab IAS Officers’ Association had also decided to donate one day’s salary each to the CM’s Relief Fund, the official spokesperson added.
