Commissioner Secretary Public Works (R&B) Department, Khurshid Ahmad Shah, chaired a meeting here to review the functioning of the department in the district today.The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Leh Avny Lavasa, SE PWD Leh S K Pandita, SE PWD Kargil Sarwar Singh, SE PMGSY Kargil & Leh Nisar Kacho besides other concerned.During the meeting, the Commissioner Secretary took a detailed assessment of the physical and financial progress on various projects taken under NABARD, Central Road Fund (CRF) and other schemes in the district.The meeting was informed that 49 works under NABARD were approved of which 27 projects were completed, work is apace on 11 projects while as 11 projects are awaiting work for non-release of funds. It was further informed that 16 bridges out of the approved 24 bridges were completed, while as 3 out of 8 rest bridges will be completed soon.The Commissioner Secretary directed the concerned officers and officials to strictly adhere to the specifications and complete the ongoing projects within the stipulated time frame. He also suggested for counselling for imparting training to locals in different aspects of public works so that dry works can be completed which would be beneficial in the extension of work period, early completion of work, and generation of employment opportunities.He also emphasized upon the officer to ensure that quality of works isn’t compromised with.Earlier, the Commissioner Secretary inspected various ongoing projects being executed by PWD including Spituk-Choglamsar road, Choglamsar- Hemis road, Martselang road and others.
