DSEK for enrolment of out-of-school children to improve literacy rate

Director School Education Kashmir Dr GN Itoo today called for enrolment of all the out-of-school children to improve literacy rate and for the bright future of such children.He said that Village Education Committees (VECs) and School Management and Development Committees (SMDCs) can play a vital role in improving the teaching-learning process in the schools by monitoring the school activities and providing suggestions to the Department.The Director was expressing his views while participating in 18-day Community Mobilization Programme in far-flung areas of district Kulgam. He said that for making the efforts of the Department fruitful, Heads of the Institutions and teachers should make sure the participation of community in the school activities.The 18-day programme was held in all the six zones of the district. On the occasion, DSEK appealed the parents to avail different schemes of the Department by enrolling their wards in Government schools.During the programme, many cultural items were presented by the students for which they were presented with certificates and cash prizes.DSEK also took stock of the teaching-learning process in far-flung areas of the District.The programme was attended by Chief Education Officer Kulgam Ashok Kumar Saniyal, Principal DIET Kulgam Vijay Kumar Bhagat, Deputy Chief Education Officer Kulgam, Zonal Education Officers of the District, members of the VECs and SMDCs, teachers, students and other concerned.
