Laying emphasis on the importance of computer and IT education, the Advisor to Governor, Khurshid Ahmed Ganai, today asked Higher Education Department to introduce these subjects at college and university level to prepare students for technical jobs both in private and public sector.The Advisor was addressing Vice-Chancellors and  Registrars of all state-based universities, officials from Higher Education Department and Principals of colleges in a workshop titled “Road map for quality enhancement of higher institutions” organized by Higher Education Department in collaboration with National Higher Education Resource Center.Joint Secretary MHRD Government of India  Ishita Roy, Chairperson National Higher Education Resources Centre and National Coordinator Rusa Prof B. Venkatesh were guests in the event which was also attended by  Commissioner Secretary Higher Education Department Sarita Chauhan, Vice-Chancellor Kashmir University Prof. Khursheed Iqbal Andrabi, Vice-Chancellor, IUST Awantipora Prof. Mushtaq Sidiqui, Vice-Chancellor BGSB University Rajouri Prof. Javid Masarat, Vice-Chancellor University of Jammu Prof. Manoj Dhar, Vice-Chancellor Cluster University Jammu Prof. Anju Bhasin, Vice-Chancellor Cluster University Srinagar Prof. Sheikh Javid, Vice-Chancellor Cluster University Prof. Sanjeev Jain, besides several other signatories.On the occasion, the Advisor said that in the present times and in the near future the importance of computer and IT competency will be pre-requisite for any job whether in public and private sector and educational institutions need to prepare students to meet the demand. He said this will also help in addressing the unemployment in the state.Ganai said that the expansion to introduce higher education in the state has put pressure on infrastructure which has eventually affected the quality of education in our institutions.He impressed upon the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) to liberally invest for improving educational infrastructure in JK which in turn will improve the quality of education in the state.The Advisor stressed, “Quality of science of technology in our educational institutions has to improve substantially and in this field we need to do a lot”.
