The cloudbursts and flash floods triggered by incessant rains hits higher reach in Hayan, Kangan area of Ganderbal District.Reports said that the River Sindh flows through most parts of Kangan areas like Hayan, Thune and people in many areas live near the banks of the river. However there is huge loss of Agriculture land in some areas.Locals told Press Trust of Kashmir that Irrigation and flood control department always ignore people of living in the banks of the river. They added that so far no one form the department visited to check the situation.When contact AEE Irrigation and Flood control department Imtiyaz Ali Sofi he told Press Trust of Kashmir that department can’t do anything as govt have got a project but due to non-available of funds govt can’t approve the project so far.He further told PTK that the Forest department is also responsible for this issue as they have not allowed NOC from years. He said that as there is some forest land in the areas they need NOC so that they can do further work.Despite attempts Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal did not respond to the repeating calls of Press Trust of Kashmir.Meanwhile SDM Kangan and irrigation department visited the area and assure people that their demands will be fulfilled (PTK)
