Punjab State Minority Commission Chairman Munawar Masih asked the district administration to provide the land for graveyards to Muslims and Christians nearby their localities. Masih was holding a meeting with the district officials and representatives of both communities in the circuit house on Friday. He ordered the administration to send a report to the commission within a fortnight so that action can be taken to meeting the long-pending demand of the communities. He said that both communities have a sizeable population in the state and their demands cannot be ignored.Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Dr. Shena Aggarwal, DCP Ashwani Kapur, MC Joint Commissioner Satwant Singh, Assistant Commissioner (G) Amarinder Singh Malhi, SP Ludhiana rural Gurdeep Singh, SP Khanna Balwinder Singh Bhikhi, District Development and Panchayat Officer Roop Singh and others were present. Commission Chairman asked the officials to identify the areas where the people of both communities live in the majority so that land for the graveyards can be provided as soon as possible.He said that the earlier places which have been given in the Ludhiana city by the administration are not suitable for the graveyards and told SDM East Amarjeet Singh Bains to find out two new locations in the city. The places should have basic facilities there so that people do not face any kind of problem in completing their rituals.The chairman also told the officials to identify a place for the development of Masihi Bhawan for the people where they can hold their meetings or functions. Further, the people from both communities must not face any problem in getting caste certificate by the officials.The administration assured the commission that all the cases discussed in the meeting will be decided on a top priority basis.On the occasion, Commission's others members Albert Dua, Abdul Shakur Mangat, Tehsin Ahmed, Sanjiv Jain were also present.
