District administration Kupwara today organized a sanitation drive with focus on cleaning and preserving water bodies in particular and ecology of the area in general. The drive was flagged off by District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir.Assistant Commissioner Development, Chief Planning Officer, Executive Engineer Irrigation & Flood Control, Executive Engineer R&B, EO Kupwara and other field functionaries were present on the occasion.During the drive roads, foot paths, lanes and drains in the town were cleaned.In his address to a gathering at Bumhama, the Deputy Commissioner, informed people about various activities taken up by the district administration for maintaining clean sustainable environment. He called for active participation of all stakeholders in sustaining the momentum of the drive.A sanitation drive was also conducted from Helpal Kupwara to Bumhama in which all the field functionaries of I & FC, Municipality, RDD and R & B participated.On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned Block Development Officer to install dustbins on various places from Kupwara to Drugmulla and urged shopkeepers of the area to cooperate with district administration for a green and clean Kupwara.DC also directed the concerned departments to work in cooperation and ensure cleanliness in every corner of the district.
