An impressive attestation cum passing out Parade for a batch of 451 recruit constables of Border Security Force(BSF)- the  India’s first line of defence, was organized here at its Subsidiary Training Centre (STC). Speaker Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Dr. Nirmal Kumar Singh was the chief guest on the occasion. Member Legislative Assembly, Udhampur Pawan Kumar Gupta, MLA Chenani, Dina Nath Bhagat, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Krishan Lal, and other distinguished guests and senior officers from Army, CRPF, Air Force, Police and Civil Administration besides parents of the recruit  constables and a large number of eminent citizens were present on the occasion.Addressing the parade, the Speaker congratulated the recruit constables on successful completion of the tough training. He called upon them to display courage in the face of professional challenges. He extended his good wishes to all newly pass out recruits and expressed confidence  that the recruits  will live up to the expectations of the nation. He also applauded the efforts put in by IG BSF, S.S Dogra and his team of dedicated instructors for moulding and shaping competent recruitsSingh said that BSF is deployed on international border, LOC and also in different parts of the country to fight against militants in J&K insurgents in North East and Maoist in the Central India.He said that entire country is looking at these bordenmen and expressed his confidence over the training imparted to those trainees by dedicated and professional team of STC, BSF Udhampur.   

He exhorted upon the new pass outs for showing dedication to duty and high degree of integrity while discharging duties on the border as well as in counter insurgency operations.The chief guest inspected the passing out parade and took salute at the march past. The parade was commanded by Recruit Constable Patil Vinayak Balaso. On the occasion, five trainees from each batch adjudged best in respective fields were awarded by the chief guest.Later, the chief guest also presented medals to achievers who excelled in their training.Earlier, IG BSF, S.S Dogra presented welcome address and congratulated the recruit constables on their successful completion of 44 week   rigorous training which has transformed them from a youthful child to an iron willed borderman. He expressed his gratitude to parents of newly passed out recruits, who have sent their son in the service of the nation as a bordermen. He informed that during the periods of 44 weeks of rigorous training these bordermen were trained in various aspects of physical training, weapon handling, Drill, endurance, counter insurgency training, Jungle training apart from most important task of guarding international border on Western and Eastern borders as first line of defence of the country to make them efficient bordenmen so that they can effectively perform their duties on international border as well as internal security.

The meeting took feedback f regarding reasons for abysmal performance by the students in these schools so that remedial steps are taken to ensure improvement in the next session.The meeting was attended by Chief Education Officer Lal Hussain, Headquarter Assistant to DC Mohammad Raiyaz, Principals and headmasters of various higher secondary and high schools.The meeting pin pointed  various   reasons hampering the delivery of quality education , including  shortage of teaching staff, non-cooperation of parents, lack of adequate infrastructure and frequent closure of schools along LOC due to cross border shelling. The meeting also embarked on the need to strengthen the education at primary level so as to have desired results in board exams. It was said that ‘No detention policy’ of the government needs to be relooked as promotion to higher grades is of no use if the student is not performing good in the primary classes.The ADC assured that the administration will look into the issues raised by participants. He directed the CEO to carry out extensive exercise for rationalisation of teaching staff. He said that most of schools lacking won accommodation  are being provided building under project ‘Tameer’ started by District Administration.The CEO was asked to lay special focus on the low performing schools and make provision for remedial and  extra classes during summer vacations by deputing subject experts. The participants were also impressed upon to organise parent teacher meets on regular basis to inform parents about performance of their children.
