Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC Kargil, Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan today chaired an Annual Council meeting here and approved Rs 125.46 crore Annual District Plan for Kargil District for the year 2018-19.The budget comprises Rs 56.81 crore as Regular Funds, Rs 12 crore as Loan Component, Center Share of Rs 46 crore besides the State share of Rs 8.99 crore.Executive Councillor for Education Advocate Muhammad Amir, Executive Councillor for Rural Development Aga Syed Hassan Armaan, Executive Councillor for Health Muhammad Hussain, Executive Councillor for Zanskar Affairs Tenzin Sonam, Deputy Commissioner Kargil Haji Gulzar Hussain, Senior Superintendent of Police Kargil Tsering Gyalpo, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil Imteeaz Kacho besides councilors and sectoral officers were present in the meeting. Giving a brief presentation of physical and financial achievements registered during the last financial year, Deputy Commissioner Kargil said that out of the amount of Rs 119.28crore allotted an amount of Rs. 104.87 crore was spent on implementation of various developmental schemes and welfare programmes in the district which represents 87.38% of the released allocation.

The Chairman on the occasion said the focused sectors of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) will be Education, Health, Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries. He directed all sectoral officers to start the development works in the right earnest besides pacing them up keeping in view the short working season. Kacho asked the councilors and officers to work with missionary zeal for the benefit of all sections of the society and impressed upon them to adopt a participatory model of development and make sure that all sections of the society receive a due share in the development.Threadbare discussion was held on the annual plan budget wherein members put forth their suggestions while as a number of important decisions were also taken up regarding the implementation of schemes on the ground. These included the allocation of Rs 2 crore for acquisition of land for construction of Kargil Sarai at Dwarka New Delhi.While urging upon the officers to effectively implement development schemes on the ground for better results, the CEC said that the role of the implementing agencies is of prime importance to ensure the public welfare schemes are completed in a time-bound manner and the targets set are achieved in full. He said that utmost care should also be taken to ensure that funds earmarked are properly utilized for the particular scheme and strict adherence of codal formalities is ensured.
