Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today laid foundation stone of Lift Irrigation Scheme Chail Chowk in Mandi district to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 1008.55 lakh and Water Supply Scheme Badhu Dugrain to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 147.88 lakh.  He said that the Lift Irrigation Scheme would provide irrigation facility to 405.61 hectare of area. He said that drinking water supply scheme on completion would provide drinking water facility to over 5000 people of eight villages.While addressing a massive gathering at Chail Chowk, the Chief Minister said that the State Government was committed for strengthening the economy of the farmers of the State. He said that an amount of Rs. 2572 crore has been earmarked for the Irrigation and Public Health sector in the budget proposed for the year 2018-19. In addition, Rs. 275 crore has been allocated for providing drinking water schemes for the next financial year budget.Shri Jai Ram Thakur said that providing drinking water to the people was a top priority of the State Government and till date 42522 habitations have been provided drinking water facilities out of the total 53604 habitations. He  said that the new scheme “Jal Se Krishi Ko Bal’ scheme has also been proposed in the budget for the year 2018-19,  under which an amount of Rs. 250 crore would be spent on providing better irrigation facilities to the farmers of the State in next five years.

The Chief Minister said urged the people of the State to come forward with suggestions for the development of the State. He said that we should work with complete dedication and commitment. He said that the people have great expectation from the new Government and we have to travel with firm steps when we have to travel a long distance. He said that he had ended the era of cap politics, which unfortunately had divided the people of the State on regional basis. He said that during the present two and a half months tenure of the State Government, efforts have been made to ensure welfare of all sections of the society and development of all areas of the State. He said that adequate provision of budget has been made for all the new schemes announced in the budget and even political opponents have appreciated the budget. He said that the previous Congress Government made announcements during the fag end of its tenure without any budget provisions including16 degree colleges.Shri Jai Ram Thakur said State Government has started special scheme for providing assistance to protect abandoned cattle. He said that 15 per cent of the total offerings in the temples would be provided for the Gau Sadans functioning throughout the State. In addition Rs. one would be charged from each bottle of liquor sold in the State for development, construction and maintenance of Gau Sadans.  He thanked Prime Minister Shri Narinder Modi for reposing faith in him. He said that due to wrong policies of the previous government the state has to suffer a loss worth Rs. 200 crore even in single excise department.He announced Rs.15 lakh for LWSS Malhnu, Rs. 50 lakh for WSS Dhaladhar, Rs. 15 lakh WSS Badhu Darin Gram Panchayat Basa, Rs. 40 lakh for WSS near Plata, Rs. 30 lakh for LWSS Jawal to Soroa, Rs. 30 lakh for Sericulture Centre Sain, Rs. 2.50 crore for Cluster Sericulture Development, Rs. 20 lakh each for construction of bus stands at Gohar and Chail Chowk and Rs. 2 lakh for Mahila Mandal Surandi He assured the helipad would be constructed in Nachan areas soon after identification of suitable land.

The Chief Minister also announced upgradation of MS Piplagalu, Nagon, Brata, Janjhar to High School, HS Taraur to SS School, PHC at Syang, three new trades of motor mechanic, dress making and cutting and tailoring, first Mukhya Mantri Adarsh Vidya Kendra at Gadari, Rs. 30 lakh for first Mukhya Mantri Lok Bhawan at Chail Chowk, GSSS Maviseri science or commerce classes at per students strength, science lab at SS School Jaidevi, Rs. 10 lakh for basket ball court at Basa. Various organisations made contributions towards CM Relief Fund including Lok Mitra Sangh President Shri Sita Ram Chauhan Rs. 5100, Shri Girdhari Lal former President Nachan Rs. 5001, Pradhan Up-Pradhan Sangh Rs. 31000, SDM and Tehsil office employees Rs. 51000, C&V Association Rs. 31,000, Central Head Teachers Rs. 11000, Mahila Mandal Dhar Sarodi Rs. 31000, Hill Valley Truck Operators Union Rs. 5100 and Bopar Mandal Chail Chowk and Gohar Rs. 22,000.Yuva Morcha Nachan honoured the Chief Minister by presenting him a sword. Devta Kamrunag Committee presented a memento to the CM.Chief Minister was given rousing welcome en-route Sundernagar to Chail Chowk by the people of Gram Chowk, Nichli Behali, Diargyi, Kot, Baggi and Magar Padhru Panchayats.Irrigation and public Health Minister Shri Mahender Singh Thakur said that it was indeed proud moment for the people of Mandi. While lauding the humble nature of Chief Minister Shri Jai Ram Thakur, he said that he had worked with all the Chief Minister of the State except late Dr Y.S. Parmar, but have never seen such a down to earth Chief Minister. He urged the people to give whole hearted support to the Chief Minister to ensure all-round development of the State in general and Mandi district in particular.Local MLA Shri Vinod Kumar urged the Chief Minister to explore the possibility of tourism development in the area. He thanked the Chief Minister for laying foundation stone of two schemes worth crore of Rupees. He also detailed various demands of the area.Shri Joginder Rana, President BJP Mandal Nachan detailed various demands of the area.Present on the occasion were MLA Karsog Shri Hira Lal, Member Zila Parishad Mandi Shri Kishore and other senior officers of the district.
