The Punjab Kala Parishad on Monday organized Ru-Bru with NRI Poet, Writer and Journalist Jasvir Singh Shameel at Punajb Kala Bhawan, Chandigarh.  Renowed Poet and Chairman Punjab Kala Parishad, Dr. Surjit Patar presided over the program while Secretary General Lakhwinder Singh johal, Canadian NRI Social Worker Adv. Harminder Dhillon, Dr. Jaspal Singh, prominent poet Sukhwinder Amrit, writer Jasbir Mand, Dr. Manmohan Singh Dau and other dignitaries were present during the programme.A book 'Punjab De Panchi' researched for four decades and witten by Punjabi farmer Rajpal Singh Sidhu and edited by Shameel was released during the function. Talking about the book, Harminder Dhillon told that first encounter of Rajpal Sidhu with birds was as a hunter then he turned as a bird lover and dedicated his whole life for the research on different species of birds related to Punjab. Despite all his efforts and dedication, Rajpal could not publish his work about 275 different kinds of birds so Shameel completed the task after the death of great bird lover.Dr. Surjit Patar in his address appreciated the efforts of Shameel and said that it is great to see him working with same dedication and zeal even at Canadian land. He said that people like Shameel who love Punjab, Punjabi language and its different aspects are really hard to find in today's world. He assured that Punjan Kala Parishad will acknowledge the hard work of Rajpal Singh will buy his book in good number to gift it to dignitaries and other people visiting Kala Bhawan.Shameel while talking about the book said that the book gives complete insight of the birds related to Punjab and shows to what extent a bird lover can go to know about his field of interest. He said that it is important to give the book to coming generations so that they could know the real Punjabi names of these birds. He announced to start Rajpal Singh Sidhu memorial award for people doing research on birds from next year. The collection coming from sale of book will be spent on the award.
