DC Kulgam flags off Fish, Sheep breeders’ exposure tour

Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Talat Parvaiz today flagged off 50 sheep breeders and 35 Pisciculturist of the district for an exposure tour to Sheep farm Daksum and Kokernag trout hatchery under centrally sponsored scheme ATMA.The aim of the tour is to acquaint the breeders with latest technological interventions in the Sheep Husbandry sector.During the tour, the breeders will visit sheep farm Daksum Kokernag to know the latest know-how of sheep breeding and rearing by experts in the field. The tour is being organized by Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Department Kulgam. On the occasion, the DC said that such tours will help the breeders to acquaint themselves with the latest technology and practices and asked them to make the best use of the training programme.He also said that requisite steps are underway to tap the potential of sheep breeding in the district and special focus is being given on generating awareness among youth to motivate them to adopt it as an economic activity.District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Dr Mohammad Amin Dar, Assistant Director Fisheries Mohammad Rafiq, Block Sheep Husbandry Officers, besides a large gathering of sheep farmers were present on the occasion.
