The 15th annual mahashivratri-cum-Rural Awareness mela would be held at Khooneshwar Aap Shambhu Temple, Khoon, Majalta in Udhampur on 13th February, 2018.The Mela would be organized by Destitute & Handicapped Welfare Association (DAHWA) in conjunction with district administration Udhampur and mela Committee.In this regard, Deputy Commissioner, Niraj Kumar, has asked officers of all departments including District Industries Center, Health, Social Welfare, Rural Development, Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Sericulture, Handicrafts, Handloom, Transport besides Tehsildar Majalta to establish their departmental stalls. He exhorted upon them to distribute literature containing schemes of their respective departments so that rural people are made aware about these government programmes for their socio-economic emancipation.Besides, the cultural wing of State Information department and J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages besides local artists would present cultural programmes like folk music and dances.
