Muzaffarnagar (Uttar Pradesh) , 03 Feb 2018

Addressing Kisan Panchayat today at Sisoli in Muzaffarnagar district in Uttar Pradesh, the Governor Himachal Pradesh Acharya Devvrat said that farmers were the real agri scientists who contributed and nurtured the society for centuries. He said excessive use of chemical fertilizers by farmers for short term gains pushed them to trouble resulting in fertile land becoming barren.  Chemicals used by farmers for protecting crops, polluted the underground water making it poisonous and responsible for serious diseases. He said that production of crops also decreased and farmers were forced to take loan to purchase chemical fertilizers. It was a vicious cycle not in favour of economy of farmers, said Governor. He urged the farmers to follow simple and traditional farming. It involved no expenditure known as zero budget natural farming. He said that he himself practically implemented this farming in his 200 acres of land and got remunerative prices continuously for the crops grown. The quality of food grain has been excellent and best for human consumption.

The Governor detailed about natural farming and explained preparation of Jeevamrit. He said farmers have experienced both chemical and organic farming and results were before them so he advised them to shift towards natural farming of zero budgets.Dr. Sanjeev Baliyan, Member of Parliament from Muzaffarnagar welcomed the Governor in his home assembly segment and said that farming was not a profitable avenue due to many challenges before them and he thanked the Governor for addressing their problems and provide alternative farming in the name of zero budget natural farming and hoped that farmers of the area would also be benefitted by adopting natural farming.Chaudhary Naresh Tikkait, National President, Indian Kisan Union welcomed the Governor on the occasion and thanked him for initiating a model of natural farming for the welfare of farm community.
