Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Abdul Haq Khan informed the House that the government provided employment to 35,177 MGNREGA job card holders of Jammu division in 2016-17.Replying to a question of Sham Lal Bhagat, the Minister informed that the government has released an amount of Rs. 33.60 crore in favour of these jobs card holders.The Minister further said that the government is committed to provide 100 day employment to every job card holder under MGNREGA. He said that MGNREGA is a demand-driven scheme that is being run for the progress and uplift of poor villagers by way of providing working days and development of their areas.Replying to a supplementary question of Qaiser Jamshed Lone, the Minister said the department takes up works under convergence with 13th FC and 14thFC. The work plans are prepared by organizing Gram Sabhas and cluster of works are taken up through general public participation, he added.Replying to a supplementary question of Vibod Gupta related to liabilities under MGNREGA in Rajouri, the Minister said the government has cleared the liabilities to a large extent.Legislator Naresh Kumar Gupta also raised supplementary question related to the main question.
