Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash unfurled the tricolour here at Arazi Stadium and took salute at the March past comprising contingents of JK police, Home Guard and students of various schools here at Republic Day function.Vice Chairman, J&K State Advisory Board for Welfare & Development of OBCs, Rashpaul Verma, MLA Samba Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal,  DC Sheetal Nanda, SSP Samba Anil Magotra, ADC Tilak Raj Sharma and large number of citizens, officers of civil and police administration also attended the function. The school children presented colorful cultural and musical programmes on the occasion which were appreciated by the audience.Addressing the gathering, the Minister extended warm greetings to the people on the occasion and urged them to take pledge to maintain peace, harmony and brotherhood. He paid rich tributes to the martyrs who laid down their lives for unity and integrity of the nation. Paying tributes to its framers, he urged the people to follow the Constitution which defines democratic principles, establishes its institutions, sets procedures, powers and duties of government.

He said that India is bringing technological revolution across globe and saluted Scientists, engineers and Entrepreneurs for their exceptional contribution. He stated that with globalization, continuous efforts are being made by the government to improve quality parameters across Industrial and Skill Development sectors. He informed that work for Rs 100 cr technological centre shall begin soon at Samba. He complimented District Administration for its excellent performance and urged officials to work with same zeal and dedication.Earlier, DC briefly informed about the initiatives being taken for development of the district. She informed that 102 Km  road has been blacktopped during first three quarters of this financial year, while  important roads like Baba Chamliyal , Ramgarh , Rajinderpura have been completed and work has been started on upgrading Samba-Sumb, Utterbehani–Purmandal, Utterbehani bridge and Central University roads. She also informed that 104 girls have been provided financial assistance under State Marriage Assistance scheme.

On the occasion meritorious students, sports persons, progressive farmers and parade commanders were awarded by the Minister. The Republic Day function was also organised at Sub divisions Ghagwal and Vijaypur where the SDMs hoisted the flag whereas at Tehsils, the function was also organized in which Tehsildars hoisted the Tricolor.
