Refuting the allegations of the CPI's Tripura unit, the Union Home Ministry on Wednesday clarified that National Security Advisor Ajit Doval was not present in any political meeting at the Home Minister Rajnath Singh's house on January 14."There is a well-established practice of Home Ministry holding regular morning meetings to review national security and public order," said the Ministry statement, adding that these meetings are attended by senior members of the internal security establishment. It said Doval and a few other officials were a part of one such meeting on January 14 at Rajnath Singh's house, but "didn't participate in any other meeting at Home Minister's residence on that day".The statement came after the Communist Party of India-Marxist asked the Election Commission on Monday to look into why Doval attented a Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) meeting where poll strategies were strategies, citing media reports. The Indian Express had reported that Doval attended a meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leaders to discuss the forthcoming elections in Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland. "If correct, this is a shocking violation of norms and serious misconduct," the party had said in a statement.
