The Revenue Officers working in the State have welcomed the initiatives announced in Budget 2018-19 empowering the Revenue Department right from Patwarkhanas to Deputy Commissioner level.Lauding the Finance Minister, Dr Haseeb Drabu for the initiatives announced by him in the Budget for the Revenue Department, the Revenue Officers said that the proposal of making provision of Rs 10 crore for improving the infrastructure in the field especially for procurement of vehicles for field officers would go a long way towards reinventing the dignity of the Revenue officers who are rendering their services tirelessly across the length and breadth of the state.The functionaries of the Revenue Department constitutes direct interface with the people and perform their duties wherever required be it law and order issues, relief operations but were facing lot of hardships due to lack of necessary infra such as vehicles, but the special initiatives highlighted in Budget 2018-19 has restored the dignity of the Revenue Officers, ADC Jammu Dr Arun Manhas said.He said another initiative taken by the Finance Minister for the creation of a “Revenue Infrastructure Development Fund” would surely help in regaining the primacy and glory of the Revenue Department which seems to have lost in the past years.The decision to give leverage to the Revenue Department to charge minimum 2 percent of the amount involved in the land acquisition in each case as service fee is an another step towards empowering the department and to meet its infrastructural needs, Dr Manhas said.
