Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Arun Manhas today convened a joint meeting of officers of various departments and members of District Gurdwara Parbandak Committee (DGPC)  to review the arrangements for celebrations of ensuing Shri Guru Govind Singh Ji’s birth anniversary (Parkash Purab) falling on  January 05, 2018.The meeting was attended by SSP Traffic,  Nisha Nathyal,  SP South Sandeep Chaudhary, XEN PDD Neel Kunwal Singh, XEN PDD Gandhi Nagar  P D Singh, Health Officer JMC Dr. Anita Salgotra, Assistant Conservator of Forests  Rashid Manhas, President District Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (DGPC) Jagjit Singh, General Secretary Avtar Singh besides senior officers of concerned departments and representatives of religious organizations.It was informed that the main function would be held at Gurudwara  Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Chand  Nagar, Jammu on January 05, 2018 where thousands of devotees would perform prayers and attend Akhand Path followed by Shabad Kirtan and Guru ka langer. Similarly, on January 02, 2018 a Nagar Kirtan from Gurdwara Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Chand Nagar, Jammu will start at 10 a.m and pass through Vivekananda Chowk, Dogra Chowk, Bikram Chowk, District Police Lines, Hotel Asia, Green Belt, Government Hospital Road Gandhi Nagar, Gole Market Gandhi Nagar, FCI  Depot, Balmiki Chowk, ShivaJi Chowk, Guru Nanak Nagar will culminate at Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Guru Nanak Nagar, Jammu at around 5 p.m.Detailed deliberations were held on important issues including un-interrupted power and water supply, security arrangements during Nagar Kirtan, special drive for sanitation around the Gurdwaras and enroute where procession of Nagar Kirtan will pass. Adequate security arrangements, besides deployment of medical teams and ambulances during Nagar Kirtan were also discussed during the meeting.Likewise, Traffic Department was asked to put in place necessary arrangements for smooth and hassle free traffic movement during the procession. The Health Department will ensure fully equipped ambulance with first aid and requisite manpower stationed at the venue.
