Punjab Vigilance Bureau today arrested Piara Singh, Secretary posted at Assistant Regional Transport Authority (ARTA) office Hoshiarpur. The special court sent him for five days vigilance custody for further investigations.Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of Vigilance Bureau said Vigilance had already nabbed an ASI Ramesh Chander @ Happy posted at RTA office Hoshiarpur red handed during last month on the complaint of Sukhi Transport owner Sukhmander Singh of Khanna in Ludhiana District for accepting bribe of Rs. 1,50,000.during the investigations, it came to light that accused ARTA Secretary was collecting money as monthly bribes from transporters through this ASI. He further added that both Secretary Piara Singh and ASI Ramesh Chander were involved in extortion and bribery.He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act was already been registered against accused ASI at VB police station Jalandhar and Secretary Piara Singh was also included in this case by adding section 120B of IPC in the case further investigation in this case was under progress, he added.
