District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir today convened a meeting to review measures being taken for better traffic management in the district. SP Kupwara, Shamsheer Hussain, District Statistics and Evaluation Officer Kupwara, Tehsildar Kupwara and Executive Officer Municipal Committee Kupwara, besides representatives of different transport associations, were present in the meeting.During the meeting, a team of officers comprising Tehsildar Kupwara, EOMC Kupwara and officials from MVD, Transport, and Traffic Departments was constituted to conduct a joint survey for identification of the parking-slots for passenger buses.The committee shall also identify paid parking within the town limits so that the problem of unauthorized parking is brought to an end. All the regulatory agencies were called upon to enforce traffic norms strictly to create effective deterrence. Parking-slot for passenger cabs and other vehicles has been fixed during the meeting.
The DDC further directed the traffic regulatory authority not to allow any heavy vehicles or loaded trucks to enter the jurisdictions of towns from 10 am to 5 pm. The Executive Officer Municipality Committee Kupwara was directed to remove all the unauthorized street vendors from the Bus Adda inner roads, Bypass-road, Kupwara-Sopore road and other busy places of the town.Besides, it was further directed that the load careers, passenger cabs and other means of transportations be shifted from old Bus Adda to New Bus Adda Regipora. Further, Executive Engineer R&B Kupwara was called upon to apply road marking on the main roads for smooth plying of traffic.On the occasion, SSP Kupwara sought the cooperation of transporters in ensuring there is no overloading in passenger buses.
