"A separate cadre of the teachers would be formed for the border areas to increase the number of teachers in the schools falling in these regions. The posting of such teachers after appointment, transfer and promotion would be in the border area schools only." This was disclosed by the Education Minister, Punjab, Mrs. Aruna Chaudhary here today in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha while replying to a query during the question hour. The MLA from Tarntaran Dr. Dharambir Agnihotri had posed a query regarding constituting a separate education policy for ridding the children of border area residents their backwardness. The minister said that the separate cadre proposal would include border districts of Amritsar, Tarntaran, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Ferozepur and Fazilka. Under the proposals, the appointment, transfer and Promotion would teachers belonging to this cadre would be done in the schools of border areas which would lead to the filling of shortfall of the teachers in these schools.
