A meeting of the Department Related Standing Committee (DRSC-IV) of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council was held here today under the Chairmanship of MLC, Ramesh Arora to review the functioning of Power Development Department (PDD).Legislators, Rani Gargi Blowria, Saif-ud-Din Bhat and Vibod Gupta attended the meeting and gave their valuable suggestions to further improve the functioning of PDD.Detailed discussion was held on regularization of 400 Daily Wagers working in the State Power Development Corporation and the Chairman of the Committee asked the concerned to take steps for speedy regularization of these workers.Giving details about the process of regularization of these Daily Wagers, the Managing Director, SPDC Shah Faisal said that this matter has already been taken up with the Finance Department.While taking stock of ongoing power projects in the State, it was informed in the meeting that the construction work on all projects is apace and the directions have already been given to the Executing Agencies to expedite the work for timely completion.  

It was also informed in the meeting that about 75 Lakh LEDs have been distributed among the consumers of the State. It was also informed that 53 percent metering of house hold consumers has been done in Jammu region, so far.Taking stock of the measures being taken up to cover left out un-electrified habitations, it was informed in the meeting that during the survey it was found that 108 villages have been identified without power supply in the State which will be covered soon.The panel asked the concerned to ensure adequate power supply to all besides utilizing the funds judiciously.Among others the meeting were attended by Commissioner Secretary, PDD, Hirdesh Kumar, Development Commissioner Power, SPDD, Asgar Ali Majaz, Chief Engineer (S&O), Kashmir, Director Finance PDD, Director Planning PDD, Special Secretary Legislative Council and other senior officers Council Secretariat besides concerned officers of PDD department.
