Police on Sunday ruled out presence of ISIS in Kashmir and said that it would investigate the group’s claim of carrying out Zukura attack in Srinagar.According to reports, ISIS has claimed responsibility for Friday’s Zukura attack in which one police officer and a local militant were killed. However, the DGP of J&K Police, Dr Shesh Paul Vaid, while addressing a press conference here at Badami Bagh cantonment that they are yet to verify the claim.“It is yet to be verified and I don’t think ISIS has any imprints here,” he said. The IGP Kashmir Munir Khan who was also present on the occasion said on the one side Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen has claimed responsibility for Zukura attack and on the other, the ISIS is now claiming. “The DGP has already said that it is the subject matter of investigation because on one hand they are saying that he was district commander of Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen and on the other, they are claiming ISIS. So, it is all a subject matter of investigation,” he said. (GNS)
