Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs and Tribal Affairs, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali today visited Gujjar and Bakarwal (G&B) hostel Talwara where he inaugurated newly constructed dining hall block.The Minister interacted with hostel inmates and chaired a meeting of concerned officers and hostel management. He also reviewed the facilities being provided to the inmates.Minister of State Ajay Nanda, District Development Commissioner, Prasanna Ramaswamy G, Director Food, Civil, Supplies & Consumers R  A Inqlabi, Director Tribal Affairs, Controller Legal Metrology R.K Katoch, SSP Tahir Bhat and other senior officers of district administration were also present on the occasion.The Minister directed the Director Tribal Welfare to release Rs 1 crore for the construction of Girls Hostel at Talwara. He asked the R&B department to formulate detailed projects report after and get the design of the building approved to start the work at the identified site.The Minister also asked the Director to make provision of a bus for the transportation of hostel inmates to the educational institutes.Regarding the issue of shortage of accommodation in the existing hostel building, he  instructed the Director Tribal Welfare to release Rs 50 lakh   for construction of additional rooms.Executive Engineer R&B was instructed to ensure blacktopping of the road connecting the Hostel. He also directed him for construction of boundary walls around the hostel premises.The Minister also asked the Deputy Commissioner Reasi to identify the state land for construction of Girls hostel and monitor the facilities at the hostel on regular intervals.The Warden of the hostel sought provision of physical teacher, bore well, repair and renovation of library, establishment of warden office, furniture and other infrastructure.
