Lamenting the disastrous effects of demonetisation and GST, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Tuesday called upon the people of Himachal Pradesh to vote the Congress to power with a resounding margin to pave the way for the complete elimination of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.A Congress victory in both Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat would lead to the BJP being completely wiped out in 2019, said Captain Amarinder, calling upon the people of Himachal Pradesh to teach the Modi government a lesson for the havoc it had wreaked on their lives with ill-conceived decisions such as demonetisation and GST.Talking to mediapersons on the sidelines of his last rallies in Himachal Pradesh in support of the Congress, Captain Amarinder said that, on the first anniversary of demonetisation, it was time to vow to save the country and the future of its people from the Naendra Modi led BJP. From demonetisation to GST, from unemployment to corruption, the Narendra Modi government’s impact on the country had been catastrophic, said Captain Amarinder, appealing to the people of Himachal Pradesh to vote for the Congress in the interest of the state’s development.

Capping three days of Congress rallies across various constituencies, Captain Amarinder, a star campaigner for the party, Captain Amarinder pointed to the total panic in the BJP rank and file, as manifested by Modi’s frantic pace of addressing rallies in poll-bound Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat, to express the confidence of the Congress winning both the states. The Congress wave was evident, with the BJP hardly present anywhere in Himachal Pradesh, he said. The Punjab Chief Minister also came down heavily on the BJP for joining ranks with the Shiromani Akali Dal to ruin his state and promised not to spare anyone found guilty of destroying the lives of youth with Chitta. The same Chitta had started flowing into Himachal Pradesh, too, but with his government taking over in Punjab, the supplies into the hill state had also been choked, he added.Captain Amarinder appealed to the people to vote for Congress candidates Gangu Ram Musafir from Pachhad (Sirmour district) and Mukesh Agnihotri from Lalri in the interest of the state’s development. He lauded the achievements of the Virbhadra government, as well as the previous Congress regimes, to underline their contribution to the holistic development of the state.

From roads to industries, from education to healthcare, Himachal Pradesh stood out as a shining example of progress led by a people-centric government under Virbhadra Singh, who had given his entire life to the welfare of the state’s people, said the Punjab Chief Minister. Captain Amarinder said he had personally witnessed the growth of the state and its development on key indices, such as education, in which Himachal Pradesh now ranks number 1, along with Kerala. On a lighter note, he said that even with his best efforts, he himself had not been able to take Punjab ahead of Himachal Pradesh on this count. With excellent schools, colleges and universities, the Virbhadra government had secured the future of the children and it was in their interest to vote the Congress to enable it to complete its unfinished agenda and promote further development of the state, said Captain Amarinder. There could be no better leader than Virbhadra Singh to lead the state towards another five years of multi-faceted programmes, he concluded, amid thunderous applause from the people, who had turned out in large numbers for his rallies.
