Oakridge International School organized Book Week to highlight the values and importance of libraries teaching and lifelong learning. The weeklong event was inaugurated with lamp lightning by the Children’s author Vaijayanti Savant Tonpe .There were lots of activities lined up for the weeklong event like Live a story, storytelling session by Parents, activities like Book mark competition, Book review and library quiz ,Inter house debate on mystery and fiction books. These activities were organized to encourage reading new books and experience the pleasure and joy of reading.Writer Tonpe is writer and editor of children’s books for nearly thirty years. She has won numerous awards for her writing from the Indian Council of Child Education,the Bal Kalyan Samiti, Indo-Russian Literary Club and from many other organizations. She has dedicated her writing to many genres including non-fiction, fiction, fables, re-narrative fables etc.Author Tonpe gave a very lively and entertaining presentation about being an author and about how she came up with the ideas for her books. She explained the things to keep in mind while writing a story. The children were also glad to be a part of this interactive session and they acted out parts of her stories. As an experienced speaker, she encouraged students to read a lot as it would also help them improve their writing skills.While speaking at the moment Principal Ramanjit Ghuman said that the whole session was extremely informative for the budding authors.According to her today's readers will be tomorrow's leaders and to encourage children to read more learn more ultimately lead to better lives. She further encouraged the students to explore and discover from the magical world of books.
