Under the ageis of Punjab Legal Services Authority and guidance of Hon'ble Mr. Justice T.P.S. Maan, Executive Chairman, Punjab Legal Services Authority, the District Legal Services Authority, Mohali came at the rescue of the destitute senior citizen.There was a lady destitute namely Baljit Kaur wd/o Late Mohinder Singh r/o H. No. 205, Ph. 1, Mohali. The lady was previously employee of Secretariat. She has two sons, one is residing at the above mentioned adress and the other is resident of Canada, both are not ready to look after their mother. rather they have shunted her out of the house. and for last 5 years, she had been residing in gurudwara Sahib in Phase 1, wherefrom, she was recovered and got admitted in the Prabh Asra on the orders of DC on 4.09.2017.  there was a news published in the Newspapaer and on the basis of said News, Hon'ble Executive Chairman, Punjab State Legal Services Authority, authorised the Secretary, DLSA Mohali to do all the needful for good health of the Destitute and to initiate legal proceedings.On receipt of orders, Secretary, DLSA under the Chairmanship of Mrs. Archana Puri, Ld District and Sessions Judge, Mohali, got the lady admitted in the Civil Hospital, for her medical check up and she was referred to the Psychiatric Ward, Sector 66, Mohali, and she was shifted there, and thereafter again, she was admitted in the Civil Hospital. 

Side by Side, legal proceedings were initiated against the sons of Baljit Kaur for shunting her out of her own house. Application has been filed before the Tribunal constituted under the maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior citizens Act, 2007. At the same time, application was moved to SSP for initiating criminal action against the sons u/s 24 of the above mentioned Act.In the petition filed before The Tribunal/SDM, the order has been passed regarding staying the sale or transfer of the property which stands in the name of Mrs. Baljit Kaur.Further , the F.I.R. No: 212 dated 26.09.17,P.S. Phase-1 has been registered under section 24 of  Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior citizens Act, 2007, and the investigation is being carried out by the police. District Legal Services Authority, under the ageis of PULSA in creating awareness about the rights pertaining to parents and senior citizens as provided in  Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior citizens Act, 2007, and NALSA (Legal Services to Senior Citizen) Scheme 2015 by holding awareness camps.
