Chief Secretary, BB Vyas today conducted a day long tour of Handwara to take stock of developmental activities and review status of governance delivery by various government departments. He carried out surprise inspection of various government institutions and educational institutions.

The Chief Secretary was accompanied by DGP SP Vaid, IGP North, DDC Kupwara, SSP Handwara, ADC Handwara and other officers.He inspected Government Middle School, Wodipura and High School Wodipura and appreciated the enthusiasm and activities of students being undertaken under the ambit of nationwide campaign “Swachhata Hi Sewa”. Enthused by the overwhelming participation of students in a remote part of the district, the Chief Secretary said that participation of students in this campaign will change the mindset of society and ensure success of the Swachh Bharat Mission launched by the government.He directed the concerned to redouble their efforts towards cleanliness and sanitation and ensure overwhelming participation of all sections, particularly students and younger generation in the ongoing “Swachhata Fortnight”.The Chief Secretary directed for immediate completion of additional building being constructed at Government High School, Wodipora. He also directed DDC Kupwara to initiate leveling of the playground and construction of approach road to the said institution. During his visit to Government Middle School Wodipura, he also instructed to construct one additional classroom and completion of fencing wall already approved under the convergence plan.Later, he inspected the ongoing work of fountain in the Main Chowk of Handwara and directed the executing agency for its early completion. He also visited the Administrative Complex at Handwara and inspected various sections including records. While reviewing the progress of the ongoing work on the said complex, he agreed for release of balance funds to the tune of Rs.1.50 crore to ensure its early completion.He also inspected PHC, Chogal and called upon the functionaries to work with zeal to provide desired services to the people efficiently. Earlier, the Chief Secretary along with the DGP paid obeisance at the temple of Shri Mata Bhadrakali. He directed for carrying out of improvement in the approach road leading to the temple.
