Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary today stressed the need to expedite the disbursement of financial relief among the displaced persons (DPs) under one-time settlement package.He directed the concerned authorities to complete the formalities on war footing and send the cases to the Central Government so that beneficiaries get the financial assistance under the Prime Minister’s relief package at the earliest.The Minister issued these directions while chairing a meeting convened to review the progress of disbursement of relief among Displaced Persons of PoJK and Chhamb.Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Dr Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Additional Commissioner, Jammu Rehana Batool, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, Deputy Commissioner, Kathua Ramesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Samba Sheetal Nanda, and Custodian (Ex-Officio PRO, Mushtaq Ahmad and some political leaders attended the meeting.

The Minister enquired about the number of cases sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs, number of forms distributed by the designated authorities and status of cases pending before the designated authorities.The Minister was informed that there are four designated authorities in the state including Deputy Commissioners of Jammu, Samba, Kathua and Custodian (Ex-Officio PRO), Jammu who have submitted 7,781 cases till date. It was further informed in the meeting that proper scrutiny of cases and their uploading on the official website is being done on daily basis.The Divisional Commissioner informed the Minister that PRO Office has been asked to inform the applicants about the requirements of documents to complete their files within the stipulated time frame. The designated authorities have also been asked to remain vigilant to prevent exploitation of beneficiaries, he added.The Minister said that the list of cases requiring more documents should be displayed at District and Tehsil Headquarters for information of the public. He directed for strict action in case of any compliant about exploitation of genuine beneficiaries at divisional, district or tehsil level.
