The District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir today convened a meeting to review the preparedness for ensuing Independence Day celebrations in the district.The meeting held a threadbare discussion on arrangements being put in place by the district administration for smooth conduct of the Day at the district and Tehsil headquarters.It was decided that the main function will be held at District Police Lines Kupwara where the Chief Guest will host the Tricolor followed by inspection of parade and the march past by the contingents of JKP, JKAP, CRPF, IRP, District Police, Fire and Emergency, Forest Protection Force, Police Band, Home Guard, besides 450 students from 11 educational institutions of the district will participate in colourful programmes.

The DDC was informed that uninterrupted drinking water and power supply will be provided at the venue during the rehearsal on August 13 and main function day on August 15 at DPL, Kupwara at the prescribed locations.On the occasion, the DDC constituted a team of officers to oversee the preparedness at all levels for the smooth and successful conduct of the events of Independence Day celebrations. He instructed them that the participant students be provided refreshments during the rehearsal days, besides transport, sanitation, healthcare, seating arrangements, sound system and other basic facilities be ensured.SSP Kupwara, ADC Handwara and officials of the district administration, Police and Security agencies were also present in the meeting.
