The Deputy Commissioner Shopian Mohammad Aijaz today convened a meeting to review the functioning of District Red Cross Society(DRCS).The meeting was attended by District Panchayat Officer, Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Education Officer, Medical Superintendent, District Social Welfare Officer, District Horticulture Officer and representatives of Pharmacist and other concerned officials.Chief Medical Officer who is also treasurer of District Red Cross Society apprised the chairman of DRCS about the financial status of the District Red Cross Fund.He directed CMO to organize free medical camps in each zone and also asked him to provide the first aid training to the teachers and students so that the time of emergency their services could be utilized.During the meeting discussion was made to strengthening of District Red Cross Society. DC pointed out that District Red Cross Society works to eliminate the human suffering especially in line of distress and disasters. He further said, District Red Cross Society Shopian will always be at the service of people of Shopian whenever they are in need.
