Vigilance suspends four police personnel in bribery case

Aiming to weed out the menace of corruption among government servants, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau has placed its own four officials under suspension which includes an Inspector, two Head Constables and a Constable for accepting bribe of Rs. 1.50 lacs. In this case a regular departmental enquiry have also been initiated against the accused police personnel who were posted at Vigilance Bureau Range Ferozepur. 

Disclosing this here today, Vigilance Bureau Chief Director-cum-ADGP Mr B.K. Uppal said the Bureau was committed to adopt zero tolerance policy towards all forms of corruption and any misconduct on the part of its own officials would not be tolerated at any cost during its drive against bribery.Giving details Mr Uppal said a corruption case was registered against Forest Department superintendent Shehjata Ram at Police Station Vigilance Bureau Ferozepur on 26.10.2016. The complainant has submitted a written plaint stating that four vigilance officials had taken bribe amounting to Rs. 1.50 lacs in lieu of favoring him in preparation of cancellation report in his case.He added that on the basis of preliminary investigation he has immediately taken disciplinary action and placed four Vigilance Bureau officials namely Inspector Kuldip Singh, Head Constable Charan Singh and Satnam Singh and Constable Navjeet Singh under suspension. He added that SSP Vigilance Bureau Range Ferozepur has also been asked to conduct a fact finding enquiry and recommend further action, if any, under the provisions of law.Vigilance chief further said the Bureau would ensure and maintain high ethical standards, integrity and honesty among its personnel in accordance with fundamental principles of service rules and legal system. He has asked the public as well as all honest public servants to help the VB in its anti-corruption drive in the state and inform the Bureau on its toll free helpline 1800-1800-1000 from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm if any public servant demands bribe.
