Aiming to contain activities of gangsters, drug smugglers, absconders and organized criminals in the Northern states, the inter-state coordination meeting of eight states have decided in principal for effective coordination, mutual sharing of information and creation of common database about such offenders.This meeting was held here today at Punjab Police Headquarters, Chandigarh under the chairmanship of Mr. Rohit Choudhary Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order, Punjab which was attended by the senior officers from eight States. Disclosing this Mr Choudhary said the meeting was fruitful in which participating officers discussed and deliberated on the various crimes and concerted efforts to nab the criminals. It was concluded to form a joint group by the respective States and hold inter-state coordination meeting quarterly, he added.Addressing the participants, the Director General of Police Mr Suresh Arora said the objective of the meeting was to ensure peace, law and order with the mutual coordination of police forces of different states and agencies. 

Elaborating the importance of such inter-state sessions for police officials, Mr Arora added that sharing information and exchange of dossiers would also help in solving various cases and find effective measures to prevent the crimes besides containing the activities of interstate gangs, absconding lawbreakers, wanted criminals.Mr Choudhary further added that to tackle the increasing interstate crime regular sharing of information and improving the response on information shared were also discussed in this meeting. He informed that it was a first of its kind meeting wherein information about crime and its control and more importantly sharing of information in real time was discussed. He said the senior officers of these participating States would meet after every three months and the coordinate session be a regular exercise.This meeting was attended by Mr Kuldip Sihag IGP/SCB Haryana, Mr Ram Kumar IG MRT U.P., Mrs. Ridhim Aggarwal SSP/STF Uttarakhand, Mr Harendra Kumar SP/SGNR Rajasthan, Dr. Khushal Sharma SP/L&O Himachal Pradesh, Mr. Madhur Verma DCP/Crime New Delhi, Mr. R.K. Jaiswal IGP/STF Punjab, Mr. A.S. Rai IGP Patiala Zone, Mr. Gautam Cheema IGP/L&O Punjab, Mr. Pawan Kumar DSP/Crime Branch Chandigarh, Mr. Ashok Kumar DCP Panchkula, Mr. J.P. Jassu, Additional Director SIB Chandigarh, Mr. Ashish Choudhary DIG Bathinda, Dr. Nanak Singh SSP Faridkot, Dr. Ketun B. Patil SSP Fazilka and Mr.K.S. Chahal SSP SAS Nagar.
