Model development projects to be taken up in Rajouri under convergence mode

Departments of Rural Development, Panchayats, IWMP, Social Welfare, ICDS, Cooperatives, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Horticulture, Sericulture, DUDA, SC/ST/OBC Development Corporation, Legal Metrology and other discussed a number of collaborative projects to be planned and implemented in district Rajouri.In a series of meetings chaired by District Development Commissioner, Rajouri, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary a number of pending developmental and welfare issues of district were discussed and measures finalized for various interventions for participatory development and community welfare. The DDC emphasized on seeking active guidance from and participation of Legislators in development planning and socio-economic welfare scheme as well as rolling out of schemes and initiatives in the district.The meeting decided to constrict more than 80 bridges in remote areas and 112 Panchayat Ghars during current financial year. Taking serious cognizance of more than 110 Panchayat Ghars delayed over last more than 5 years the DDC directed the BDOs to complete the projects in next 2 months failing which action will be taken. He also directed for opening of a "Cultural Museum" along National Highway depicting the richness of culture, heritage, history and linguistic diversity of district. 

District Administration also decided to set-up a "Universal Centre" for women in Rajouri which will provide recreational, educational, sports and entertainment facilities for women. Rural housing will be accorded priority during current year it was informed in the meeting. RDD will also take up creation of a dozen parks and 20 sports grounds in district during current year for constructive engagement of youth.It was decided that Bal Ashrams at Rajouri, Nowshera, Sunderbani, Koteranka, Pahari Hostel and Nari Niketan will be provided assistance for inmates which will include education, sports and in-room items. A project is also being started for more than 9700 physically handicapped persons in district provide them basic amenities and access to various Government schemes and facilities.Reviewing performance of ICDS the DDC directed for cancellation of attachments of more than a dozen supervisory staff in compliance of Cabinet decision. Appreciating the performance of Anganwadi centres in Sunderbani he directed for replication of best practices in anganwadi centres across district. Strict emphasis was laid on regularity and punctuality of staff in field offices.Departments will also initiate model projects of convergence for development of nurseries, orchards, schools, livestock farming, tourism assets like parks and gardens, community centres and rural infrastructure among other initiatives during the year.
