Minister for Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries, Abdul Ghani Kohli, today visited Baramulla and chaired an officers meeting to review progress of various developmental works in the district.District Development Commissioner Baramulla Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash, Superintendent Engineer R&B, SSP Baramulla, JD Planning, CMO, ACD, ACR, CAHO and other officers from various departments were present in the meeting.During the meeting, Kohli took comprehensive account of major works being executed by various departments in the district. He urged the officers to gear up the pace of ongoing works. He directed the concerned to personally monitor the progress of ongoing developmental works on regular basis to ensure their timely completion so the people are benefited from these projects.Kohli also impressed the officers to put in every possible effort to ensure availability of all the basic facilities to the people of the district.Meanwhile, the Minister directed for ensuring proportional increase in the number of sheep and Animal Husbandry units in the district. He said owing to the area and large population of livestock it requires enhancement in related infrastructure for better outcome and dividends from this sector.He called for infusion of modern technology in the sector supplemented by action based research for further development and consequential gains for all, making livestock more important and employment generating sector, aiding economy and thereby general welfare.He also stressed the need of installing hatcheries in the district based on latest technology.  He said that first aid camps on permanent basis should be set up in Bahaks for catering to the growing needs and exigencies of shepherds for containing on time damage due to various reasons to their livestock.The Minister was apprised by the DDC Baramulla about various schemes for the people associated with the sector and facilities provided to them by the district administration.
