District Development Commissioner, Mohammad Aijaz today convened a meeting with Principals of Government Degree College, Higher Secondary Schools and officers of Education Department to ensure proper implementation of Prime Minister Special Scholarship Scheme . CPO, Uttam Singh, AD Employment, Principals and other officers of Education Department attended the meeting.The PM Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS) has been started for the students of the state who wish to pursue under graduate level programs in general and engineering streams in UGC approved institutes.Eligibility for availing benefits under the scheme include permanent resident certificate of Jammu & Kashmir, academic education from J&K Board or CBSE affiliated schools located in J&K and family income should of less than Rs. 6 lac per annum. Threadbare discussions were held on the process of counseling and other ways of awareness generation and redressal of problems faced by the designated staff as well as students.Principals were directed to organize awareness camps in their institutions.Underscoring the need to simplify procedures, the DDC said that aim of the scheme is to facilitate students   for higher education and all out efforts should be made to ensure that necessary help is provided to the student fraternity.Revenue authorities, Tehsildars were directed to issue all requisite certificates on top priority while services of Khidmat centres are to be utilized to upload data of students for scholarship.
