Taking serious cognisance of the media reports regarding a house belonging to Dalit women was allegedly set on fire by some miscreants, the Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission today directed the Director, Investigation Bureau, Punjab and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Moga to submit a detailed report of the whole incident in person by 24th April. Rajesh Bagha, Chairman of the commission said that there were reports of torture of a dalit family and setting on fire their house in Dodhar Sharki village of district Moga. As per the reports, some person have trespassed dalit widow’s house and tried to sexually exploit her. On her protest, they poured kerosene oil on her and her daughter and set their home of fire.Mr. Bagha said Director, Investigation Bureau, Punjab and SSP Moga have been asked to submit detailed report of the incident in person. He said that after thorough probe, stern action would be taken against the culprits.He said that the infringement with the rights of SC would not be tolerated because they are enshrined in the regulations and constitutional norms.
