Kashmiri students studying at Bhargava College of Engineering and Technology Supwal Samba district of Jammu region Friday staged a protest after a South Kashmir female student was allegedly assaulted by an outsider in the college hostel.    Kashmiri students studying the college told news agency CNS over phone that a female Kashmiri student of BE 2nd semester Civil Engineering was attacked by an outsider when she had gone to her hostel washroom on Thursday night. They said that the assailant wounded the girl student after he attacked her with a knife. “She has received wounds in her arm,” the students said adding that the lack of security system in the girl’s hostel has posed a great risk to the female students.

The students said that after the incident, some of the girl students fainted. “We were told by these students that they used to receive threatening calls from past couple of days from unknown callers. The girl was shifted to hospital while more than 100 Kashmiri students studying in the College boycotted classes and demanded registration of police case against the culprits,” they said.Sensing trouble, the college authorities have decided to close the college on Saturday. When contacted, Managing Director Bhargava College Of Engineering and Technology Mr Sanjiv Sharma told CNS that they have decided to register an FIR against the unknown suspects. “The girl is quite safe. College authorities have decided to register a police case to ascertain the facts,” he said. (CNS)
