Governor N. N. Vohra, Chairman of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, today inaugurated the newly constructed Police Post at Kakryal. The prefabricated building of the Police Post, with allied infrastructural facilities, has been constructed by the Shrine Board within a record time of less than three months at a cost of  over Rs. 21 lakh. The Police Post is located on land owned by the Shrine Board. The Governor went around the Police Post building and took stock of the infrastructure. He emphasized the need for effective maintenance of this newly created facility and suggested the planting of fast growing species of shady trees and flowering plants in the premises of the Police Post. He directed Mr. Ajeet Kumar Sahu, CEO of the Shrine Board, that, wherever feasible, efforts should be made to adopt pre-fabricated technology to minimize the time factor while enlarging infrastructural facilities for the pilgrims.Maj. Gen. (Retd) Shiv Kumar Sharma, Member of the Shrine Board; Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University; Dr. S. D. Singh Jamwal, Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone; Mr. Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board; Mr. Varinder Sharma, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range; Mr. Ravinder Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Reasi; and Dr. M. It is pertinent to recall that the former DIG, Udhampur-Reasi Range had, during discussions with the Governor in December 2016 when the latter was visiting the University, sought the Board’s assistance for constructing a building to house the Police Post, particularly as the Governor wanted the Post to become urgently functional. Till recently, the Police Post, Kakryal has been operating from a small rented structure which was later acquired for widening of the Kakryal-Railway Station Road. The Police Post Kakryal has been sanctioned by the Government to cater to the requirements of the several major institutions which have been established by the Shrine Board in Kakryal area, including Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, the Super specialty Hospital and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Nursing.Besides setting up the pre-fabricated building of the Police Post with a plinth area of about 950 sft, other related civil, electrical and plumbing works executed by the Board include the construction of an approach road and parking area, development of a terrace by constructing a retaining wall, providing chain link fencing, installation of high mast lights as well as water and power supply to the complex.Among those present at the inaugural function were Mr. Tahir Bhat, SSP Reasi; Ms. Neelam Khajuria, SDM, Katra; Mr. Sumir Kotwal, Additional SP Katra; Dr. (Brig) Man Mohan Harjai, Chief Administrative Officer, Mr. Suneet Marwah, CEO and Mr. Manu Ramachandar, Facility Director, SMVDNSH, Kakryal; other concerned officers and engineers of the Shrine Board.
