The Vigilance Bureau, Punjab (VB) has caught a Patwari red-handed with the bribe money of Rs.6,000 for mutation deed.Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the VB said that the complainant Mr. Manjit Singh of Patti Bande di, Chola Sahib (Tarn Taran) complained that he approached Mall Halqa Bhurra Kohna Patwari Lakhwinder Singh to get the mutation (Inteqal) done of his ancestral land but he demanded Rs.10,000 as illegal gratification. After negotiation the Patwari agreed to take Rs. 6,000.The spokesperson further said that a trap was laid by Vigilance Bureau, Range Amritsar headed by DSP Mr. Manjit Singh Bhangu and a team of Inspector Mulkh Raj & other and the accused Manjit Singh was arrested red handed in his office at Patwarkhanna Khemkaran, while accepting bribe of Rs.6,000 from the complainant, which was recovered from him. The FIR against accused has been lodged under section 7, 13 (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 in Police Station-VB, Amritsar.
