Students of the Government Higher Secondary School Hari Ganiwan Kangan in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district Wednesday held a protest demonstration and blocked Srinagar-Leh road for more than two hours. They were protesting against the continued absence of their teachers and the lack of teaching staff in the educational institution.Eyewitnesses told CNS that protesting students marched towards Srinagar-Leh road and blocked it, thus disrupting vehicular movement for hours. As a result of the protest, commuters face a lot of inconvenience.Alleging that the School teachers had not attended the school for the past many days and teachers were not taking any interest in their jobs, protesting students said that the school is already short of teaching staff. The students said they would no longer tolerate the absence of their teachers and the government must ensure their presence in the school. After two hours protest, the agitating students dispersed peacefully when local police and civil administration officials assured them that their grievances will be addressed without any delay.
