National Conference on Wednesday lashed out at the State Government and the CAPD Ministry for its continued mismanagement of the CAPD Department in Kashmir and said this unprecedented negligence had resulted in a catastrophic situation where thousands of families were without ration cards and ration depots were starved of supplies for months altogether.Meeting various public delegations that apprised him of an unprecedented ration and essential supplies crisis in the Valley, NC State Spokesperson Junaid Azim Mattoo said repeated pleas asking the CAPD Department to rectify its systemic lapses and resolve long pending issues had fallen on deaf ears as the Department was either suffering due to incompetent handling or was deliberately persecuting the people by depriving them of ration cards and supplies.“It’s ironic the department has the audacity to talk about technological innovations and integrating their system with the Aadhaar rolls while it continues to demonstrate brazen insensitivity towards thousands of families who are being deprived of their rights.

Photo-ops and press statements cannot be alternatives to delivering the basic functions of the department. There are also reports of rampant corruption and misappropriation of supplies and these allegations need to be investigated thoroughly by an independent authority”, the NC Spokesperson said.“There is a deep-rooted supplier, transporter and officer nexus in the department that has been impeding its performance and preventing it from delivering on its core responsibilities – the time has come to expose this nexus and ensure such corrupt practices are eradicated once for all,” the NC Spokesperson said. The NC Spokesperson said, failing rectification and resolution by the Administration, the party would not hesitate to raise this issue with the Honorable Governor along with specific details of mismanagement and would also support public and social initiatives to raise awareness about this issue and hold the Department accountable.
