Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary today informed the House that lower portion of village Gungbungh is getting water from departmental tankers and higher areas through private tractors, whereas, villages likes Dousra, Chairkote, Kantpora, Takipora, Kuligam and Dooniwari are covered under existing water supply schemes.Giving details the Minister said that Lolab area has a deficit of surface water and is primarily dependent on ground water sources. The department in consultation with ground water experts is undertaking exploration for ground water feasibility in water scarce areas and with exception of Chairkote and Kantpora, all areas are showing promising results, he added.The Minister further informed that as soon as restrictions from Ministry of Water Resources, GoI to take up new projects under NRDWP are removed, the department shall submit DPRs for approval and funding of projects in Gangbugh, Dursoo,Takipora and Kuligam.The Minister was replying to a Calling Attention Notice by Qaiser Jamsheed Lone in the Legislative Council today.
