The Legislative Council today resumed discussion on Motion of Thanks on Governor’s Address wherein various members expressed their views on government policies and programmes.Taking part in the discussion, Jugal Kishore Sharma stressed on the need to work collectively for development and better future of the State. He said that Governor's address presents a clear roadmap for the Government's future action plan and expressed hope that the present dispensation will do everything to fulfil the promises made to the people.Jugal Kishore Sharma also asked for progressive action for development of the State with focused attention on ensuring equal share of developmental works for all three regions. Firdous Tak lauded the policies and initiatives of the government including proposing railway line connectivity between Rajouri-Poonch, Kathua-Kishtwar, Rs 500 crore action plan under Prime Minister Development Package, project proposals worth Rs 2842.32 crore under PMGSY besides monetary support to displaced persons of PoK and Chhamb.Bashir Ahmad Shah Veeri appreciated Governments efforts for ensuring regular maintenance of essential, civil & health services in the valley during recent unrest. He also complimented the Government for completing Water Supply Scheme of Tangnar in Srinagar city for augmenting ten million gallons of potable water per day, benefiting three lakh people. He lauded young boys and girls including Tajamul Islam, Hashim Mansoor, Meenal Gupta and Rakshak Jandiyal for bringing laurels to the state in different disciplines of sports.

While taking part in the discussion, Ashok Khajuria lauded Governments efforts and achievements including the ten-fold increase in industrial sector investments, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, development of Tawi river front, inclusion of Vaishno Devi- Katra area in Swachh Bharat “Clean India” Mission, establishment of two AIIMS in Jammu and Srinagar, two Cluster Universities, State Cancer Institute at Soura, IIT & IIM at Nagrota, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao among others.Yasir Reshi appreciating the effective governance initiatives launched by the Government said that these measures will provide people with hassle free access to services.Charanjeet Singh appealed the people from all regions of the state to come together for bringing everlasting peace and harmony in state. He further appreciated the relief to displaced persons of PoK and Chhamb with immediate settlement of Rs 5.50 lakh to 36384 families.
