Minister of State for Education Ms Priya Sethi today said that the Government is committed to promote regional languages in the State adding that various steps have been taken in this regard.She said detailed instructions have been passed to the concerned for promotion of   all     six 'mother languages' of the state in the school curriculum.Responding to a question  raised  by Mr Ramesh Arora, the Minister said that the Government has taken initiative  for promotion and introduction of six  'mother languages' including  Kashmiri, Dogri, Punjabi, Pahari, Gojri and Ladakhi   at the primary and  elementary level in the schools and  syllabus  for these subjects have been framed by JKBOSE.She further stated that the Dogri is being taught from class 1st to 10th in areas where it is widely spoken as mother tongue under additional/optional category adding that the Subject is available as an additional subject upto secondary level while in 11th and 12th classes it is being taught as an optional subject.

The Minister informed that adequate number of proficient General Line Teachers have been provided in schools of Jammu division to teach Dogri as a language in the schools.She said  the department  has  already  created 20 posts of lecturer in the discipline of Dogri for teaching the subject at Secondary  level adding   of these  9 are in position and 4 posts  under direct quota  stand referred to  JKPSC for recruitment  on fast-track basis under SRO:202. She further said that the remaining 7 posts  under promotion are  in the process of being filled on officiating basis.She further informed the house  that    J&K BOSE  has been  entrusted with the responsibility of   prescribing syllabi  for all subjects including Dogri, taught in the schools affiliated to  the board and  the books  are also printed  and provided  to the Schools by it.
