Major General Nilendra Kumar, Additional Director General, National Cadet Corps, Jammu and Kashmir Directorate, along with four senior and junior Cadets who are in the J&K NCC Republic Day 2017 Parade Contingent met  Governor N.N. Vohra at the Rajbhavan here today. The NCC Cadets, comprising, Shivi Badyal, Geeta Bhagat, Pratyaksh Khajuria and Umar Gazalley were accompanied by Brigadier S.D. Mehta, Group Commander, NCC Group Srinagar, Lt. Col. B.S. Choudhary, Republic Day Contingent Commander, and Captain Mangal T.Wishing the NCC contingent high success in their various competitions at the Republic Day Camp-2017, the Governor observed that this group of cadets from all the three regions of Jammu and Kashmir should be proud to have the privilege of representing the State.

Observing that the NCC is an excellent organization which inculcates discipline and the spirit of camaraderie and resilience, the Governor stressed the need for all required efforts being made to see that the maximum number of boys and girls from J&K get enrolled in the NCC and a growingly large number from among them are able to join the officers cadres of the Defence Services.The Governor lauded the achievements of the J&K NCC Directorate on being informed by Major General Kumar that Cadet Shivani Verma from 2nd J&K Girls NCC Battalion had won a Gold Medal in the 50 m Rifle Team event in the Junior Women Category of 60th National Shooting Championship which got concluded recently at Pune and four other girls from the same Battalion have qualified for the National Shooting Trials.The Governor wished the J&K NCC Contingent high success in all the competitive events to be held at the 2017 Republic Day NCC Camp at New Delhi.
